Top location in westende ! My daughter had made a reservation as she knew of the reputation of this brasserie, and indeed when we arrived the place was packed full! Just our table waiting for us... The owner is allover, welcoming and serving and seeing off.... But in an extremely friendly and professional way though. The quality of their products is very fresh, whatever dish you decide upon. The home made croquettes de crevettes are succulent. The kids steak is super tender but too big of a portion for a good eating kid... The "tomates crevettes" are well presented and up to the standards, very fresh 'crevettes' A pleasant atmosphere with the waiting hard working owner steeling the show...
We found the brasserie by chance searching for somewhere open for a late lunch, and what a find! We were very warmly welcomed, the menu and specials (featuring some lovely local specialities) didn’t disappoint. Combining wonderful good, very friendly service and a great wine list, very highly recommended!
A quick stop off for lunch. Came here on a trip advisor recommendation. So glad we did. Fantastic and friendly service and the sea food was awesome. Would definitely come back!!
Came here after reading about the place on tripadviser. Food was all great , host is friendly as other people have said. My one comment is that its a bit slow. Three hours for a starter and a main and coffee. We had plenty to talk about so was not a problem but do not come here if your in a hurry however if you have plenty of time and want good food then this is the place to come.
Very warm welcome from a friendly host, also with the kids. Excellent matured rib eye and fish plate. The nougat in dessert seemed home made. Not the place for a quick bite though.
Came here for a meal with my dad on the way back to the UK and it was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits. The garlic prawns and steak would be my recommendation!! ????????
Wonderful seafood, very attentive and great host. Already told friends it’s one of the „must eat at“ places. Excellent vines!
Warm welcome. Customer and child friendly. Excellent quality. Classic meat and fish dishes. A nice family lunch.
After a long day made longer by a 2.5 hour delay on the channel tunnel we decided enough was enough while filling up with fuel on the E40 half way to Brussels.....we needed to eat. A very quick look on TripAdvisor led us 5km towards the coast to Brasserie Regina and we are so glad we bothered. Atmosphere, service and food was excellent on a cold and wet evening. The owner was very friendly and helpful and only wish was that we could have stayed much longer. We shall make a point of returning.
We got a very nice welcome, and were immediately seated on the table we requested with a baby. The steaks, carbonades and fishpan were delicious and fresh. For me/us it's a definite recommend and we'll visit again.
On a visit to Ieper (Ypres), Belgium, we were passing the Brasserie Regina and reading the board outside we were tempted to go in for the Plat du Jour which consisted of Cauliflower Soup, Caesar Salad and a coffee for !5.50 euro. My friend had the cauliflower soup which she said was nice but as I didn't like cauliflower I was offered fried cheese in breadcrumbs which was beautiful. We were surprised when we got the next course as we thought it was just a salad but it turned out to be chicken, chips and the caesar salad and it was delicious, we didn't have time for coffee as we had to get back for our coach. The food was all very fresh and very nice, the waitress(from Hungary) and waiter (Belgian)were delightful and very, very friendly, we even got to speak to the chef (who was from London) and we had a thoroughly good lunch. Would recommend this any time.
We have just left the restaurant and thought it best to write a review whilst the flavours linger. The welcome from the host, Vincent was wonderful. He and a his wife, Caroline work so very hard. The menu included a variety of freshly cooked authentic Belgian dishes. The oven-baked fish dish topped with melted cheese was beautiful. The fish was cooked to perfection. The traditional beef stew in beer (the Belgian name, stoofvlees ) melted in the mouth. The creme brûlée was fab and the recommended Grand Marnier ice cream soufflé was amazing. We've been travelling in Europe for the past 18 days and found this to be one of the best meals we've had as a whole. Not a cheap meal, but as we plan to travel back to UK tomorrow, it was a fabulous meal to end our road trip with. If we're in the area again, we would definitely return. Thank you for a great meal Vincent & Caroline.
Some of the great Belgian dishes (meat and fish) and a few surprising suggestions. Ingredients are fresh and top notch. I ordered a steak, served with fresh fries and salad. Over the years I've tried a great deal of steaks, and this is certainly one to remember. On top the service is exquisite, with a friendly host that never loses his smile. He addresses customers fluently in different languages, and makes you feel welcome from the moment you step inside. Even though we were first time customers we felt like regulars. Just hearing him talk about the house specialities makes your mouth water! Be sure to make a reservation, especially in the weekend. A lot of locals come to eat here, which proves a great deal. Highly recommended!
If you want a simple Belgian meal, but want to be sure you will only get the best ingredients, fresh from the day and never frozen, you can't go wrong. The menu is short, but there is something for everyone (who eats fish or meat). My mother and I had tomatoes with grey shrimps, frites and salad. I don't think I have ever had such a generous helping!
We reserved a table for dinner after seeing the good reviews in TripAdvisor, but once again were disappointed and wondered why all these good reviews landed there. Do they use a trick? Do they BUY their good reviews from some mafia? We ordered a fish casserole but got a kind of fish gratin which had clearly spent an extensive time in the fridge or freezer. The scampi's were so-so, no taste and with a lot of fat. Perhaps they think that "creme brulée" should have a black burned sugar layer on top? Never heard about caramel? Overall the menu offering is small and lacks variety. When composing our menu we really felt something was lacking on their lists. The headwaiter is so obsequious it is embarrassing. Another waiter would look everywhere except at us as we tried to get attention from him...
I started being a regular there. A spaghetti, toastie, steak of salad with king prawns, I never had reason to complain. Even if it is a couple of euros more expensive than other places, the service and friendliness are sure worth the expense. Always fresh food. I carry on going there with pleasure.
Sometimes, when you go on a holiday with little chance to cook for you self at the appartment that you rent, you tends to find just a place to fill up that hunger, and not thinking wether it is a nice place to dine with good food. At least sometimes i do that. But when i on a holiday i think to my self. Hey its holiday, so pamper your self! We were looking for a place to eat that evening. rather late, especially for our daughter of three years old. We saw a logo of tripadvisor outside the restaurant and I simply just stopped and said "we should eat here!" we ended up walking around the surrounding streets as my husband wanted to eat something else. But eventually we went back. It was full booked at the time we arrived, but the host (gastheer) was very friendly and let us sit out side at the small terrace, which we did not mind. After a while it became a little bit too cold for us, so i went inside and ask the host again as to wether there is a place free for us three. He friendly noded yes and we were allowed to dine in. The food was good. Nicely prepared and made from fresh ingredients. It did took a while for us to finally get our meals, especially because our daughter was already hungry and asked constantly where her meal was. But They took care of our requests neatly eventually. And i totally understoond why it took a while. The place was full booked! highly recommended for small families and people who appreciate the belgian way of dining.
Closed to the beach, in the centrum of Westende, the "Brasserie Regina" is proposing an excellent cuisine, based on the best products (especilally from the sea), cooked with the best know-how. Caroline and Vincent are welcoming each guest as a friend and are anytime acting to make each one feeling happy. When, you come in this so typical place, mixing the history of the house with the modernity, you can enjoy not only the delicious home-made schrimps croquettes, but also all the best classical fishes from the North Sea. Definitively a place to visit and to enjoy when coming to Westende.
